It seems like January consisted of snow and no school. Well really only a week of snow but we had an entire week off of school and then Tyler went back to a week of half days (aka budget cuts). We spent two entire days out in the snow while Dave was home and it wasn't until he was at work that I brilliantly thought of taking our January photo out in the snow. good work Val. So we took the picture late one night when Dave got home from work. So it's dark and grainy. Not exactly what I had hoped for but it's all I've got :).
January was really a month of getting back into the swing of things after winter break (oh and the additional snow and half days). Back to our routines. Back to homework. Back to basketball. And Hailey started up swimming. Her months off of swimming lessons didn't make much of an impact....she's still a fish and loves doing the dolphin kick. She is very happy to be back in the pool.
It was great fun for the kids to have a week of snow. We spent most of the time outside sledding. Tyler built a snowman one day but sledding was really the focus. This was the first year that the kids could both sled down the on their own sled by themselves....a first for Hailey. All I had to do was stand at the bottom. We have a killer hill though. Walking up it is a workout. Walking up it as a four year with a huge sled is really hard work. Tyler had a little more stamina. Hailey actually preferred the hill down at the park where Dave made a sled jump. It's a shorter hill but still fast and fun. By the end of the week though our trips outside lasted about 20 minutes instead of hours. The kids got cold quicker and the novelty of it all started to wear off. The three of us had definitely had some cabin fever.
